<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently compress the information quantity of moving image data for 3D display. <P>SOLUTION: An encoder 102 detects a difference in respective right-eye image and a left-eye image (first difference detection). Next, the encoder 102 searches the difference detected in one of the right-eye image and the left-eye image for an area corresponding to the first difference area that is the difference detected in the other of the images, and performs subtraction and deviation information detection between a similar area, that is the result of the search, and the first difference area (second difference detection).
