<p>An embodiment of the present invention relates to the field of communications. Provided are a method and apparatus for quick switching of a forwarding port; the method comprises: receiving a packet to be forwarded and obtaining the destination media access control (MAC) address and a virtual switch instance (VSI); searching in a MAC address table to check whether an entry matching the destination MAC address and the VSI exists, if yes, then searching for the entry matching the VSI in a VSI table; determining whether the check code found in the entry of the MAC address table is the same as the check code in the entry found in the VSI table, if different, then broadcasting the packet within the VSI. When a difference between the check code of a found MAC address table entry and the check code of a found VSI table entry is discovered, the present invention deems the MAC address table to be expire, thereby broadcasting the packet within the VSI so that the packet can be promptly forwarded to the corresponding user and does not interrupt service.</p> |
