PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve skewing detection accuracy.

SOLUTION: A printing apparatus includes: a conveying roller for conveying a medium in the conveying direction; a carriage that is arranged on the downstream side in the conveying direction from the conveying roller and moves an ink-discharging head in a direction intersecting the conveying direction; a first medium detecting sensor provided on the upstream side in the conveying direction from the conveying roller; and a second medium detecting sensor provided in the carriage. The printing apparatus is configured to detect skewing of the medium being conveyed on the basis of the detection results of the first medium detecting sensor and the second medium detecting sensor.
