<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve skewing detection accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: A printing apparatus includes: a conveying roller for conveying a medium in the conveying direction; a carriage that is arranged on the downstream side in the conveying direction from the conveying roller and moves an ink-discharging head in a direction intersecting the conveying direction; a first medium detecting sensor provided on the upstream side in the conveying direction from the conveying roller; and a second medium detecting sensor provided in the carriage.
