<p>The invention relates to a modular connector comprising: - an outer shell (3) forming a connector housing, said outer shell having a central recess (5), two sidewalls (11), each of which has first (11a) and second (11b) longitudinal ends, and first (13a) and second (13b) end blocks which are separate from the sidewalls (11), said first block (13a) being attached to the first ends (11a) of the two sidewalls (11) and said second block (13b) being attached to the second ends (11b) of the two sidewalls (11); - and at least one insulating insert (7) configured to be provided with at least one electric contact, said at least one insert (7) being accommodated in the central recess (5) of said outer shell (3); characterized in that said at least one insert (7) and said sidewalls (11) have oppositely matching shapes for assembling said at least one insert (7) with the two sidewalls (11).
