PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition for oral administration is provided to be dispersed in a gastrointestinal fluid and to improve bioavailability. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for oral administration contains megestrol acetate, oil, surfactant, and solvent in a weight ratio of 1 : 1-20 : 1-50 : 0.5-20. The solvent includes ethanol, propylene glycol, propylene carbonate, polyethylene glycol, transcutol, glycofurol, or dimethyl isosorbide. The oil includes fatty acid triglyceride, mono-, di, or mono/diglyceride, ester compounds of fatty acid and monovalent alkanol, natural plant or animal oil, squalene, oleic acid, and linoleic acid. The composition further contains pharmaceutically acceptable additive.
