<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact image sensor with a pressure adjustment mechanism equipped with a waterproof structure suitable for miniaturization and having high productivity. <P>SOLUTION: A first waterproof lid 2 and a second waterproof lid 3 keep waterproofness with the side walls and the bottom of a body case 1 using U-shaped waterproof packings 9. A transparent body 7 is bonded to the transportation surface of the body case 1 and transportation-surface-side steps 2d of the first waterproof lid 2 and the second waterproof lid 3, and both ends of the waterproof packings 9 are bonded to the transparent body 7, thereby keeping waterproofness of the transportation surface.
