<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aniline derivative useful as an intermediate of an amide derivative exhibiting outstanding effects on pest-controlling action. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing the aniline derivative (3) includes reacting an aniline derivative (1) with an iodide compound (2) in a reaction liquid containing an inert solvent or a mixed liquid of the inert solvent and water while keeping the pH of the reaction liquid within an acidic prescribed range.
