摘要 The steering column assembly has a base (202) mounted to the machine (100) and a steering column (203) coupled to the base (202) that pivots about the base (202) at one end of the steering column (203). The steering column assembly has column plates (248) and base plates (212) with pinned ends (250, 214) and slotted ends (252, 215). The pinned ends (250, 214) of the plates form pin openings (254, 216). The column plates (248) are pivotably coupled to the steering column (203) with a column pin (310) and the base plates (212) are pivotably coupled to the base (202) with a base pin (304). The column plates (248) contact the base plates (212) such that their respective slots (256, 217) intersect to form an opening through the slots. A locking pin (258) fits in the opening and pushes the column plates (248) against the base plates (212), creating friction between the plates that prevents the steering column (203) from moving. When the locking pin (258) is in an unlocked position the steering column (203) is movable with at least two degrees of freedom. When the locking pin (258) is in a locked position the steering column (203) is not movable.
