The appliance has a detecting unit connected with a unit such that the unit outputs function of the appliance in dependence of information detected by the detection unit. The detecting unit is formed such that a background image is determined and detected by the detecting unit. A storage stores reference information, and the detecting unit is arranged in or at a body of the appliance and/or in or at a closure element e.g. door or flap, of the appliance, and/or in or at an inner container of the appliance and/or in an operation unit of the appliance. The detecting unit comprises an infrared sensor, camera, radar detector, capacitive sensor and/or a proximity sensor. The appliance comprises a display e.g. LED, LCD or graphics display. An independent claim is also included for a system comprising a household appliance. |
