<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an "infrared proximity sensor calibration device for a touch panel" capable of reliably and easily detecting aged deterioration of an infrared proximity sensor and automatically increasing an amount of current to an LED for radiating infrared rays of the infrared proximity sensor by a predetermined amount on the basis of the detection result. <P>SOLUTION: When detecting that an object touches a surface of a touch panel, an infrared proximity sensor calibration device detects its detection start point. An infrared proximity sensor detects the proximity of the object to the surface of the touch panel. When the touch at the time of detection of the touch to the touch panel is within a proximity detection range of the infrared proximity sensor and the infrared proximity sensor does not detect the proximity of the object between a point of time before the touch detection start point by a first predetermined period and a point of time before the touch detection start point by a second predetermined period shorter than the first predetermined period, the calibration device determines that the infrared proximity sensor is deteriorated with age and increases infrared ray radiation current of the infrared proximity sensor by a predetermined amount. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
