<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect printing failure reliably without requiring any special member or the like. <P>SOLUTION: Based on the comparison results of an ideal value concerning a character to be printed, or the like, with the actual value concerning a character which is acquired by a scanning unit 3 and printed actually on a medium 10, a control unit 4 determines whether or not the print results are acceptable. When an actually printed character or the like, is scanned by a scanning unit 12, a blank line where dots making up the actually printed character or the like, are not present is detected by performing one-dimensional lateral scanning while sequentially shifting in the vertical direction from the center position of a character or the like, to be printed at an ideal height, and then a determination is made whether or not the print results are acceptable based on the fact whether a blank line is present or not. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
