<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably set a high contraction load of a steering jacket in vehicle collision. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle steering system includes: a lower jacket 21; an upper jacket 22; a lower shaft 11; an upper shaft 12; a vehicle body mounted bracket 33; a distance bracket 32 having a telescopic groove 32a; a cylindrical member 80 press-fitted to the outer periphery of the lower jacket so as to freely slide in the axial direction; a support bracket 31 which has a front end fixed to the cylindrical member, a rear end extending to the side surfaces of the vehicle body mounted bracket 33 and of the distance bracket 32 and which has a support hole 31a in the extended rear end; and a lock mechanism performing telescopic lock by penetrating a tightening bolt 43 into the telescopic groove 32a and the support hole 31a and jointly tightening the vehicle body mounted bracket 33, the distance bracket 32 and the support bracket 31 with the tightening bolt 43. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
