PURPOSE: A gesture recognition apparatus, a method thereof, and computer readable recording medium are provided to implement a non-contact type input function of high process or high accuracy regardless of brightness of a used place by recognizing a gesture of hands based on a moving path of a variation area. CONSTITUTION: A temperature sensor is composed of infrared sensors. A variation specific unit(32) specifies a variation area whether temperature varies as a hand area based on temperature which the infrared sensors sense. A gesture recognizing unit(34) recognizes a gesture of hands. A center of gravity determining unit(33) determines the center of gravity of the variation area. The recognizing unit traces the center of gravity.
