PRODUCTION METHOD OF DIPHENYL CARBONATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing diphenyl carbonate with high yield and high selectivity by the reaction of carbon monoxide with a phenoxy compound under mild conditions without requiring a high temperature condition or without requiring oxygen.

SOLUTION: The method for producing diphenyl carbonate comprises reacting a phenoxy compound with carbon monoxide in the presence of a platinum group element having a valence of 1 or more in a reaction liquid, wherein the phenoxy compound is reacted with carbon monoxide while a platinum group element having zero valence produced in the reaction is regenerated on an electrode into a platinum group element having a valence of 1 or more. Thereby, diphenyl carbonate can be continuously and efficiently produced under mild conditions such as at room temperature while regenerating the platinum group element having a valence of 1 or more. Since the method does not require a high temperature reaction, a side reaction is hardly induced and diphenyl carbonate can be produced with high selectivity and high yield.
