<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image decoding method and an image processing system, which can suppress noise in image data after decoding. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU designates a segment and outputs a decoding command to a VDP 2 (step S1). A decoder reads extended segment data on the segment (data obtained by collectively encoding image data on the segment and a part of image data on adjacent segments) from a CGROM based on address information on the designated segment, decides an unnecessary region (region to be deleted) corresponding to a part of the added adjacent segments on decoded data obtained by performing decoding processing and decides a plotting designation (step S2). The CPU commands the VDP 2 to plot the segment with the decided region to be deleted and the decided plotting destination as parameters (step S3).
