<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle periphery monitoring device capable of detecting obstacles and others in a short time appropriately depending on the vehicle condition. <P>SOLUTION: A vehicle periphery monitoring device for detecting obstacles and others around a vehicle, includes: an imaging part 4 mounted on the vehicle for shooting images around the vehicle; an information input part 7 for acquiring behavior information of the vehicle from a sensor mounted on the vehicle; an image processing part 6 for processing an image signal output from the imaging part 4 and detecting obstacles and others; and a storage part 9 for associating the behavior information with a preset target area, and storing them.
