<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vapor generating technology by which high-temperature vapor can be generated efficiently by utilizing the waste heat of a warm waste liquid. <P>SOLUTION: A vapor generating apparatus includes a tank capable of holding liquid, an expansion valve which depressurizes a supplied liquid as it is to make the liquid generate vapor in the tank, and a compression device which compresses vapor generated in the tank to supply vapor with an increased temperature. The supplied liquid is depressurized as it is through the expansion valve to make the liquid generate vapor which is then compressed to supply vapor with an increased temperature.
