<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize a press-fit state of a cap 20 without complicating a manufacturing process of a rotating electric machine. <P>SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a rotating electric machine includes: a preparing process of storing a cap 20 in a tool side space 23 and partitioning an operation space 42 from outside air by making a cylindrical tool 22 and a pulley 8 abut on each other vertically; and a main process of decompressing the operation space 42 to pressure lower than atmospheric pressure and moving the cap 20 upwardly in the decompressed operation space 42 to press-fit the cap 20 to a cap press-fit region 44. Thus, since downward reaction force applied to the cap 20 can be weakened compared to press-fit at atmospheric pressure, inclination and an axial positional shift of the cap 20 caused by action of reaction force can be suppressed.
