The baseboard (1) has a base body (5) and an elastic distance unit (7) that is connected with the base body. The base body has a visible surface (F) that is averted in installed position of a transition area (A). The visible surface and the distance unit are covered with a cladding layer (9). The cladding layer is adapted in the area of the distance unit to its contour. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a baseboard.
