The method involves attaching a circulating pump (34) to a rinsing chamber (2) or a collecting pot (16) of a dishwasher (1), where the pump conveys liquid in the rinsing chamber into a circulation circuit. The pump is started with low speed and operated with high rotation speed during emptying the liquid in the rinsing chamber. The pump is switched on after a subset of a storage vessel (3) is emptied. The rotation speed is adjusted using a control unit (36) during emptying the liquid in the rinsing chamber, where the rotation speed is determined from control deviation of the control unit.
