<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator with an ion generation apparatus that can reduce power consumption, stabilize a performance life and expand a lifespan even if the ion generation apparatus for an elevator car is used for a long time where temperature and humidity change. <P>SOLUTION: An air purifier 6 in which the ion generation apparatus is build is provided on the upper part of the car 5 of the elevator. The generated ion is circulated within the car 5 using a blower fan 10 so as to efficiently purify air within the car. Moreover, when the number of call registrations and elevator users within a certain time exceeds a predetermined value, the operation of the ion generation apparatus is stopped, and as a result, power consumption is reduced.
