<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an excessive increase in engine speed at an abnormal time when an idle speed control (ISC) valve of an idle speed control (ISC) unit sticks in an open state, for example. <P>SOLUTION: The engine control system 100 of an engine, which is installed in an intake bypass passage that connects the upstream side and downstream side of an throttle valve set up in an intake passage and includes the ISC unit for controlling idling speed by controlling the volume of air flowing through the intake bypass passage during idling, includes a throttle valve opening degree sensor 103 which detects the opening degree of the throttle valve, an intake pressure sensor 102 which detects the negative intake pressure in the intake passage and a control unit 104 which controls the output of the engine.
