<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head having a board edges of which are easily polished across a predetermined range, and a method of polishing the edges of a board of the thermal head. <P>SOLUTION: This thermal head X which is composed of a board 1 and part of an electric resistance layer 9 formed on the board 1 includes a plurality of heating resistors 3 that do not function as heating elements and a polishing reference marker 50 that is composed of part of the electric resistance layer 9 formed on the board 1. The polishing reference marker 50 includes a first marker section 51, a second marker section 52, and a third marker section 53. The first marker section 51 has an edge 51a on a first direction Q side of the heating resistors 3 which is located with a first distance L1 from an edge 3a on the first direction Q side; the second marker section 52 has an edge 52a on the first direction Q side which is located with a second distance L2; and a third marker section 53 has an edge 53a which extends from the edge 52a on the first direction Q side of the second marker section 52 toward the first direction Q side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
