<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic flaw detector capable of minimizing a tube end dead zone and of preventing erroneous detection when detecting a tube end flaw in flaw detection of a welded zone of an electric resistance welded tube, and further to provide an ultrasonic flaw detection method. <P>SOLUTION: When a flaw detection wheeled platform, on whose center an ultrasonic probe is mounted while a pair of tube end detecting sensors capable of detecting tube ends at the front and the rear of a travelling direction, respectively, by interposing the ultrasonic probe therebetween is being mounted thereon, is caused to travel so as to perform flaw detection operation, a time period from a timing when one of the pair of tube end detecting sensors detects a tube end (a step S1), to a timing when the ultrasonic probe reaches the tube end at the detection side based on a travel speed of the flaw detection wheeled platform is estimated (a step S2), and the flaw detection operation is completed when the time period having been estimated has elapsed (steps S3 and S4). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
