PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make unevenness of brightness caused in a superimposed region due to the state of a light shielding plate inconspicuous as much as possible by simple means.

SOLUTION: A projector 2 constituting a multi-projection system 1 comprises: a light shielding plate 31 for shielding the periphery of incident light; an image processing part 217 for performing image processing based on a brightness adjustment pattern to image data so that a projection image is projected in a state where unevenness of brightness caused in a superimposed region due to the state of the light shielding plate 31 is suppressed; an optical modulation device driving part 218 for performing optical modulation based on image date in which image processing is performed by the image processing part 217; and an optical modulation device 24.
