<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document preparation method for preventing the generation of omission of attributes required for document preparation when preparing a document. <P>SOLUTION: Attribute group storage means stores a first attribute group which is a set of attributes related to the contents, expressions and style of a document, a second attribute group which is a set of attributes related to the propriety and standardization of description contents of a document, a third attribute group which is a set of attributes related to the expression format of a document, a fourth attribute group which is a set of attributes related to the configuration and format of a document, a fifth attribute group which is a set of attributes related to the kind of contents of a document, a sixth attribute group which is a set of attributes related to information for specification as a document, and a seventh attribute group which is a set of attributes related to the physical format of a document. A computer connected to the attribute group storage means selects at least one or more attribute groups, selects attribute names included in the attribute groups, sets attribute values corresponding to the attribute names, thus prepares a document, and outputs the prepared document.
