<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery having high heat dissipation efficiency, and a battery pack comprising the same. <P>SOLUTION: A secondary battery (battery 20) comprises: at least one power generating element 22 immersed in a liquid electrolyte H and having belt-like positive and negative electrodes and a separator; and a battery vessel 21 accommodating the liquid electrolyte and the power generating element. The secondary battery is equipped with a heat conduction member (heat exchanger plate 60) extending from inside the battery vessel to outside the battery vessel such that its one end is immersed in the liquid electrolyte while the other end is in contact with a cooling system prepared outside the battery vessel.
