<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for efficiently performing the unitary management of even a largely scaled storage system. <P>SOLUTION: Management software acquires the configuration information of a storage system (computer system) in two stages. In the first stage, the management software acquires, from a storage sub-system, host computer, switch and hub or the like, only the basic information (the identifiers of resources, the number of resources, inter-resource relevance) of their resources. Then, the management software determines the acquisition range and timing and the necessity of holding of detail configuration information on the basis of the acquired basic information. Then, in the second stage, the management software acquires the detail configuration information within an appropriate range in an appropriate timing.
