Threads of reduced or regulated elongation are produced by spinning viscose in a bath containing 2-7 per cent by weight of sulphuric acid, 5-20 per cent by weight of sodium sulphate and 2-15 per cent by weight of zinc sulphate at a temperature of at least 20 DEG C. but below 40 DEG C. and stretching the threads either in the spinning bath itself or in a subsequent, more dilute, bath which is at the same temperature as, or a higher temperature than, the first bath. When stretching is carried out in a second, more dilute, bath this may be maintained at 50-70 DEG C. |
