A LCD device (100) includes, between an upper substrate (150), a lower substrate (140), a liquid crystal layer (160). A plurality of R,G,B and W color filters (142) are formed at the upper substrate (140). In the lower substrate, a plurality of corresponding R,G,B and W sub-pixels are formed in regions defined by intersections of a plurality of gate lines and data lines. Each pixel (111,112,113) is configured by three sub-pixels of the R,G,B and W sub-pixels. Pixels (112) that include a W sub-pixel use a one-color R,G or B sub-pixel of an adjacent pixel (111,113) to display a color image with R,G,B and W sub-pixels. |
