The method involves conferring an estimation of a tire rigidity and accomplishing an adjustment of a model for new tire rate using the estimated tire rigidity. The tire rigidity is estimated based on yaw acceleration, wheel angle, longitudinal speed, moment of inertia, lateral speed and distance between a front or rear axis and a hub center of a motor vehicle, using an estimation unit (307). An independent claim is also included for a control device for motor vehicle.
