A rotor comprising an impeller 2 secured to a shaft 3. The impeller 2 comprises a bore 7 and a counterbore 8. The shaft 3 forms an interference fit with the bore 7 and is adhered to the counterbore 8, by adhesive 12. The counterbore 8 has a clearance fit. The impeller 2 may be formed of plastic. The adhesive may be introduced into the counterbore 8 so that it forms a wet seal around the shaft 3 and is drawn into the clearance formed between the shaft 3 and the counterbore 8 during insertion of the shaft 3 into the counterbore 8. |
