A rotary switch has two concentric circles of fixed contacts arranged to be bridged by a moving contact ball. The fixed contacts 34, 41 are secured in desired slots 25, 27 to project from a fixed member 20 and the two series of contacts 34, 41 are bridged by a ball or balls 43 retained in apertures 45 of a plate 46 by spring members 57. The contacts 41 may each extend to cover more than one slot 27. Spring members 57 may retain more than one ball 43 and will then interconnect the balls. The members 20, 46 are held in their relative planes by a coupling member 51 which has a shoulder 52 engaging the outer face of the member 20 and staking fingers 54 which extend through apertures 55 in the plate 46 and are then spread. The plate 46 also has a shaped aperture 56 to receive the operating bar 15 so as to enable the plate 46 to be moved to switching positions fixed by an index plate 11. The switch may have a straight line movement. |
