In a vehicle engine unit mounting having the unit casing 150 and the vehicle frame 151 interconnected by means responsive solely to' the unit output torque and applying to the casing 150 a moment balancing the torque reaction thereon, as claimed in claim 1 of the parent Specification, the means comprises a set of vanes 142 connected to the vehicle frame 151, another set of vanes 140 interleaved with the first set and connected to the casing 150, means being provided for controlling the relative pressures between alternating chambers formed by the interleaved vanes 140, 142 in accordance with the torque transmitted by the unit output shaft 7. As shown a torque senser in the form shown in Figs. 5 and 6 of the parent Specification is provided comprising vanes 65 and a casing 64 secured to the output shaft 7, and vanes 66 secured to the hub 157 of a propeller shaft 8; the senser is enclosed in the casing 150 which carries :on a sleeve 141 the three vanes 140. Secured by rubber blocks 152 to the frame 151 is a housing 145 carrying the three vanes 142, the alternating sets of chambers between the vanes 140, 142 being interconnected by pipes 153, 154. Fluid pressure in a pump output pipe 68A in the housing 150 is communicated to the chambers between the vanes 140, 142 by an annular groove 71 in the housing 150, ports 81, 82 in an extension 64A of the casing 64 ports 77, 79 in the shaft 8 leading to ducts 75, 78 therein. the ducts leading by ports 69, 70 to the alternating sets of chambers, whereby the fluid pressure reacts between the power unit casing 150 and the vehicle frame 151. The ducts 75, 78 communicate by ports 83. 88 with the alternating sets of chambers formed by the interleaved vanes 65, 66 in the torque senser. When driving torque is transmitted, the relative angular movement between the shafts 7, 8 produces corresponding angular movement between the vanes 65, 66, thereby constricting the fluid flow to, say, the ports 70 and causing pressure in the chambers between the vanes 140, 142. Where the engine unit comprises separately mounted engine and change speed gearing, the pressure delivered in the chambers between the vanes 140, 142 is varied by reducing piston valves 155, 156 within the ports 69, 70.
