[Also in Group XX] A dispenser for photographic roll film comprises a light-tight container 10 in which are rotatably mounted a number of rolls of film 26 of different widths or provided with different emulsions, and a number of feed rollers 30 any one film being selectively fed out of the container through a passage 32 and cut by a knife 92, and locking means 131 are provided to ensure that only one film can be fed at a time and the other films are retracted from the knife. The length of film fed may be indicated on a scale 78 and the knife forms with a spring plate 105 a light-tight seal for the passage. The container 10 is secured to a wall by brackets 12 and has a light-tight door 16. The various rolls of film 26 rest on rollers 24 and the films are led over the feed rollers 30, which are rotated simultaneously by an external handle and chain drive 63, and past guides 36 to the passage 32. The rollers 30 have recessed parts of smaller diameter in which take fingers 42 fixed to shafts 44 and normally urged out of the recesses by springs 48 so as to engage the undersides of the films and lift the films out of engagement with the feed rollers 30. To feed a film the selected shaft 44 is rotated anticlockwise by an external lever 129 to turn the corresponding finger 42 iuto the recess in the feed roller, as shown for the middle roller, allowing a roller 54 on arms 50 to rest upon the upper surface of the film and urge it against the feed roller. The pivoted knife blade 92 is then swung forwardly by a handle 98, opening the passage 32, the feed rollers are rotated by the external handle until the required length of film is delivered, and the knife returned to cut the film by coacting with a fixed blade 88. Each selecting lever 129 engages notches in a locking lever 131 pivoted at 133, the lever 129 which has been turned to select the film engaging an upper notch 141 when the locking lever is released after drawing it forwardly, allowing the other levers 129 to drop into lower notches 142 and preventing them being turned. A lever 115, Fig. 4, has a notch 123 in the path of the knife 92 so that the knife cannot be moved to open the passage 32 until the lever 115 has been raised. A link 111 on the lever 115 operates a pawl 107 to lock the feed rollers when the lever is raised. The length of film fed is indicated on a scale 78 driven from the feed rolls by a friction clutch 72 which allows the scale to be returned to zero by finger holes 84. A lamp 82 illuminates the scale.</p> |
