The present invention relates to a method for producing wet-strength papers by adding to a cellulose fibre slurry not only a conventional wet-strengthener having a charge density of less than 6 meq/g polymer, but also at least one further wet-strengthener having a high charge density of at least 5 meq/g polymer, for the wet-strength-compatible fixing of extraneous substances to the cellulose fibres. This wet-strengthener having a high charge density of at least 5 meq/g polymer carries one or more functional groups which, in the course of drying, form covalent bonds preferably with the reactive hydroxyl groups of the cellulose and/or with the extraneous substances. |
