[Also in Group XXII] A cutting cylinder for a lawn-mower comprises a single metal member having a generally cylindrical body-portion 12 formed with longitudinal spiral flutings 13 which are connected to the body throughout their lengths and which terminate outwardly in longitudinal edges lying on a cylindrical surface of revolution. The body is formed by extrusion in the machine described in Specification 808,047 [Group XXII] and the flutings 13 either themselves constitute the blades or have formed adjacent to them grooves 13C in which blades are mounted. The flutings may be anodized, plated, or metalized with a hard metal, if they are to constitute the blades, or may have the blades cemented or riveted to their leading faces.
