<p>The surface is anodized, leaving it with open depressions, ridges or pores. A pigment, especially a full-bodied pigment, is introduced into them. Substances which can be oxidized are introduced into the depressions and pores. These are then oxidized. A thin ceramic coating or siliceous sol-gel coating is applied onto the surface. This component contains an inorganic pigment refracting light. The layer thickness applied is 0.5-5 mu m. The pore structure is a fine pore structure. A pigmenting substance and/or a pigment with optional coloring, especially a transparent color, is used. Before application of the thin ceramic coating or sol-gel coating, the ridged or pore structure is consolidated, especially by hydration, .
