The invention teaches a ribbon screw agitator/flow director comprising a full length rotatable shaft having a plurality of arms extending perpendicularly therefrom to support a helically formed strip which, when the shaft is rotated, causes the fluid contents of the tank to move along a path parallel, in part, to the axis of the shaft. The direction of fluid flow can be reversed by reversing the direction of rotation of the shaft.
