EGF-CONTAINING FIBULIN-LIKE EXTRACELLULAR MATRIX PROTEIN 1 GENE AS BIOMARKER FOR DIAGNOSING PROSTATE CANCER

PURPOSE: An EFEMP1 gene as a maker for diagnosing prostate cancer is provided to accurately diagnose prostate cancer by a non-invasive method and to relieve physical and metal pain. CONSTITUTION: A method for diagnosing prostate cancer comprise a step of measuring expression level of EFEMP1(EGF-containing fibulin-like extracellular matrix protein 1) gene from a biological sample of a subject. The expression of EFEMP1 gene is measured by measuring EFEMP1 mRNA or protein level. A method for determining or diagnosing prostate cancer comprises a step of measuring methylation level of CpG island of an EFEMP1 gene promoter site. The promoter site contains a sequence of sequence number 2. A composition for diagnosing or determining prostate cancer contains the promoter site.
