The device has two adjacent backrests pivotally supported about a bearing axis in a bearing block (5). A cover (8) of the bearing block is made of front-mounted and rear-mounted cover shells (9, 10). The bearing block is surrounded from a top of the cover in a travel direction. The front-mounted cover shell is latched with the bearing block by two clip pins. The rear-mounted cover shell is positioned by detents and connected with the front-mounted cover shell by a central clip pin. Cover plates are designed in a hood shape.
