<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a downlink packet communication control method and a communication terminal, enabling highly reliable route switchover with a reduced communication terminal load in an ad hoc network. <P>SOLUTION: In the ad hoc network including a plurality of communication terminals (13-18), an upper-level device (11) defines at least one of the plurality of communication terminals to be a master terminal (13), and sets a plurality of communication routes (main route and sub-route) originated from the master terminal for downlink packets to be transferred from the upper-level device to a destination communication terminal (16).
