<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device that can attain a long lifetime by eliminating concentration of heat at the four corners of a light guide plate due to an LED light source. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight device includes a rectangular light guide plate 8, LEDs 12 which are arranged respectively at the end faces 8a of side face parts consisting of a long side and a short side of the light guide plate 8, and an LED substrate 11 of a narrow long shape mounting the LEDs 12. The LED substrate 11 is arranged continuously corresponding to the whole region of the end faces 8a of each side of the light guide plate 8 by using a plurality of sheets of identical substrates in the long side and the short side of the light guide plate 8, and at the corner parts which are a contact point of the long side and the short side of the light guide plate 8, the LED substrate 11 of any of the long side or the short side is not arranged and a prescribed spacing is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
