AUTOMATIC DOCUMENT FEEDER AND DOCUMENT FEEDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional automatic document feeder in which when a preceding document and a following document are fed without a gap, a sensor which detects jamming by detecting the front end and the rear end of a paper is not capable of detecting jamming.

SOLUTION: The automatic document feeder comprises: a first image reading part which reads the first surface of a document; a paper feeding part which feeds one by one the document the image of which is to be read by the first image reading part; a paper ejection part which ejects the document read by the first image reading part; plural conveyance parts which have different paths to the first image reading part and guide the document from the paper feeding part, to the image reading part; a switch which sorts the document fed by the paper feeding part to one of the plural conveyance parts; a second image reading part which reads an image on the second surface of the document; and a jam detection part provided between the first image reading part and the second image reading part.
