<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform automatic adjustment of a focus area or an iris reflecting the imaging situation or the user's intention appropriately even if running into a situation where a main subject cannot be detected. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging unit 122 takes an image of a subject and generates video data. A tracking unit 186 tracks a specified subject in the video data. When tracking of the subject becomes impossible, an information generation unit 190 generates the imaging operation information indicating the imaging operation state before and after the tracking becomes impossible.
