<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver that displays video of high visibility even in a backlight state in which light shines from behind display means. <P>SOLUTION: A television receiver comprises: display means that displays video; image photographing means that photographs a viewer to output viewer image data; face region detection means that detects a face region of a person from the viewer image data; illumination condition determination means that determines an illumination condition of the viewer from luminance information of the face region and the background of the viewer image data; screen luminance control means that controls luminance of the display means based on an output of the illumination condition determination means; screen contrast control means that controls contrast of the display means based on the output of the illumination condition determination means; and display device driving means that receives a video signal, and causes the display means to display video based on outputs of the screen luminance control means and the screen contrast control means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
