811,480. Plate rectifier assemblies. SIEMENS-REINIGER-WERKE A.G. Jan. 23, 1957 [Jan. 23, 1956; Dec. 21, 1956], No. 2460/57. Class 37. A number of stacks of plate rectifiers are placed together with their first ends adjacent and their second ends adjacent and are connected such that the first end of one stack is in electrical contact with second end of the next stack and so on. Fig. 2 shows stacks of the type containing rectifying plates 7 inside insulated casings 4, 5 and 6 and sealed off by contact bodies 11-16. The cross-sections are rectangular and plates are pressed together by springs 8, 9 and 10. Contact strips 17 and 18 are placed between the stacks but separated from the stack by insulating plates 19, 20, 21 and 22. Contact springs 23-26 effect good contact between the bodies 11-16 and the strips 17 and 18. Contact bodies 11 and 16 are provided with protruding connections 27 and 28. An arrangement is shown in Fig. 3 whereby the insulating strips 19-22 are replaced by two insulating strips 29 and 30 and the contact strips 17 and 18 are passed half-way along one side of the insulating strips through holes 31 and 32 and then the rest of the way along the other sides of the insulating strips. The stacks may also be laid side by side as in Fig. 4 and the connections may be made by stiff wires 33 which are raised and do not touch the insulating bodies 4, 5, 6 except at specified contact points. A further example (Figs. 5, 6 and 7, not shown) is a device comprising a group of stacks similar to an arrangement shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 5 of Specification 811,479. |
