<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber for a saddle riding type vehicle in which an inexpensive small solenoid can be used and a damping force can be actively adjusted. <P>SOLUTION: The shock absorber for the saddle riding type vehicle includes: a shock absorber body D which includes a cylinder 2, a piston 3 slidably inserted in the cylinder 2 and partitioning the inside of the cylinder 2 into a compression-side chamber R2 filled with liquid and an elongation-side chamber R1, and a piston rod 4 inserted in the cylinder 2 and connected to the piston 3, and is placed between the vehicle body and the axle of the saddle riding vehicle; a flow passage 5 making the liquid pass through during either the elongation or contraction period of the shock absorber body D or both the periods; and a damping force control mechanism V disposed in the middle of the flow passage 5 for controlling the damping force. The damping force control mechanism V includes a spool valve 7 and the solenoid 8 in which a thrust force received at one end of the spool valve 7 by the pressure of the flow passage 5 is made to be equal to a thrust force received at the other end. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
