BELT-TYPE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION

Provided is a belt-type continuously variable transmission capable of changing gears even if pulley rotation has stopped as a consequence of the vehicle stopping, and also capable of improving both gear change speed and durability. In the belt-type continuously variable transmission (1), a drive pulley (3) and a driven pulley (4) are configured by: fixed sheaves (3a, 4a) integrated with rotary axes (5, 6); and moveable sheaves (3b, 4b) that approach/move further away from the fixed sheaves (3a, 4a). The facing surfaces of each sheave are tapered surfaces forming a belt-winding groove that winds around a transmission belt (2), and the groove width is changed to change the winding radius of the transmission belt (2) and continuously change the gear ratio. The transmission belt (2) is a non-metallic belt (2) formed by resin. Each tapered surface of the driven pulley (4) is formed such that the friction coefficient for the inside section is smaller than the friction coefficient for the outside section thereof in the radial direction thereof.
