<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copper complex that is inexpensive, easily synthesized and shows an emission wavelength at a short wavelength, and to provide an organic electroluminescent element, a display device and a lighting device using the above copper complex as a light-emitting dopant. <P>SOLUTION: The compound is expressed by general formula (1).
